Because he did not hold a motorcycle license, the officers confiscated his motorcycle, imposed a fine of 500 yuan, and ordered him to attend a week-long training course at the Vehicle Administration Center; only after passing the exam would he be allowed to reclaim his license and motorcycle. In mid-October, another sales representative, Pan Shuangchun, was riding his motorcycle to work when, while traveling under normal conditions, he was struck and overturned by a van making a right turn, sustaining damage to his motorcycle and injuries to his leg. Uncertain whether he bore any responsibility, he opted to settle the matter quickly with the other party. Although the incident was resolved, a lingering question remained: his insufficient understanding of traffic regulations had left him ill-prepared to handle such situations when they arose.

 

During recent work, employees in the Sales Department have frequently encountered “problems.” Among these unexpected situations, their superficial understanding of safe driving practices and their vague grasp of how liability is determined in traffic accidents have become like a lump of phlegm stuck in the throat—hard to cough up yet impossible to swallow.

 

In light of these recent incidents, the Sales Department staff believe it is essential to organize another “refresher session” on traffic safety education. On October 17, the Sales Department held a departmental work meeting and conducted a specialized training session on safe driving, with particular emphasis on the following penalties: riders of motorcycles who fail to wear helmets will have 2 points deducted from their driving records and be fined between RMB 20 and RMB 200; individuals who do not hold a motorcycle license but possess a car license and ride a motorcycle will have 12 points deducted, have their motorcycle impounded, and be subject to a fine; drivers who fail to carry their motor vehicle registration certificate will have 1 point deducted and be fined between RMB 20 and RMB 200; and in the event of a traffic accident involving a motor vehicle making a right turn, the principle of yielding to vehicles going straight shall apply…

 

Through the training, all employees felt a profound sense of clarity. They now not only understand the penalties for past traffic violations but also fully grasp the rationale behind them. Going forward, even when faced with similar safety incidents, they will no longer feel uncertain or uneasy—they will be more confident and assured. At the same time, they remarked, “It’s as if the phlegm in my throat has been completely cleared away, and I’m finally breathing easily!”

       

As the saying goes, “Learning is for application”—putting what you’ve learned to use in real-life situations to solve problems. The employees think this “reheated pork” dish turned out quite flavorful!
