Recently, the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Forestry Bureau and the Menghai County Forestry Bureau jointly conducted an acceptance inspection of 30,000 rare Hainan yellow pear trees planted across 250 mu at the Meng’a Forest Farm of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group.

The inspection team first heard a briefing from Wang Jinzheng, Director of the Office of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd., on the progress of the forest farm construction, and then conducted a thorough on-site inspection and acceptance. Following a rigorous evaluation, the inspection team fully commended the achievements made in the construction of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group’s forest farm, noting that the Mengan Forest Farm project—designated as a key forestry initiative in Yunnan Province—has, under the strong leadership of the Prefectural Party Committee and the Prefectural Government, been characterized by high-level planning, effective implementation, strong spillover effects, substantial planted acreage, and a high survival rate. Moreover, the development of the forest farm has consistently adhered to the principle of giving equal emphasis to ecological and market benefits, thereby achieving the objectives of ecological conservation, job creation, and increased incomes for local farmers.

In 2010, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. established a forest farm by reclaiming 3,000 mu of forestland in Meng’a Town, Menghai County. The farm focuses on cultivating rare tree species such as Hainan yellow pearwood, Lao rosewood, and Sichuan golden nanmu, with the aim of transforming it over the next decade into a large-scale, renowned arboretum and landscape base that integrates forest cultivation, plantation management, scientific research, landscape design, and leisure tourism. This initiative is expected to help more than 1,000 local ethnic-minority households escape poverty and achieve prosperity. The company has now become a vital force in Xishuangbanna’s efforts to build an eco-friendly prefecture and advance ecological civilization. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that Xishuangbanna enjoys bluer skies, greener mountains, clearer waters, and an even more beautiful environment.
