outline：From April 13 to 15, Liu Xiaofeng, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Executive Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, together with Wang Chengcai, Vice Chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, visited Xishuangbanna to conduct an inspection and to extend greetings and condolences to several grassroots members of the China Association for Promoting Democracy in our prefecture, including Liu Tianwei, Chairman of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd., and Zhou Kun, Chairman of Haicheng Group Co., Ltd., among others...

During the symposium, Liu Tianwei, Zhou Kun, and other grassroots members of the Agricultural Workers’ Party in our prefecture shared their views—drawing on the new developments in domestic and international politics and economic growth—on how to effectively fulfill the roles and responsibilities of grassroots party members, how enterprises should adapt to the new normal of economic development, how to integrate into the Belt and Road Initiative, and how to leverage our position as a hub for outreach to South Asia and Southeast Asia. In particular, they discussed their insights and perspectives on how to study and thoroughly understand General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks during his inspection tour of Yunnan Province. With regard to the next phase of work, Liu Tianwei, Zhou Kun, and others emphasized the need to remain centered on enhancing the quality and efficiency of economic development, to adopt a scientific understanding of the new normal, and to proactively adapt to and actively lead this new stage of economic development. They also stressed the importance of fully capitalizing on national policies that support our prefecture’s opening-up and development along the border, as well as the construction of port cities, in order to write a new chapter in ecological civilization and safeguard the gateway to our tropical rainforests. Furthermore, they called for continuing to embody the pioneering spirit of “daring to be the first in the world and winning through hard work” that characterizes both grassroots party members and private entrepreneurs, maintaining firm confidence, boldly exploring new avenues, leading the new wave of mass entrepreneurship and innovation, seizing opportunities, meeting challenges head-on, and striving to stay at the forefront of the times.

Liu Xiaofeng pointed out that our prefecture should establish a primary-level organization of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, continuously enhance its cohesion and combat effectiveness, and take the establishment of the general branch as a starting point to vigorously advance organizational development and the cultivation and recommendation of reserve cadres. With a strong sense of political responsibility and urgency, we must strive for progress and work in a solid and pragmatic manner to further open up new prospects for the work of the China Association for Promoting Democracy.

In reviewing the various undertakings of the China Association for Promoting Democracy in 2014, Liu Xiaofeng pointed out that last year the Association steadfastly took Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of the Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development as its guiding principles; thoroughly studied the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Third and Fourth Plenary Sessions of the 18th CPC Central Committee, and the series of important speeches by Comrade Xi Jinping; effectively implemented the spirit of the 15th National Congress of the China Association for Promoting Democracy and the Second Plenary Session of its 15th Central Committee; and, with the realization of “Healthy China” and “Beautiful China” as the central theme, pressed ahead with determination and innovation, thereby achieving new progress in all areas of work.

 

Liu Xiaofeng urged all members of the China Association for Promoting Democracy in 2015 to hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, conscientiously study and implement the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Third and Fourth Plenary Sessions of the 18th CPC Central Committee, and the series of important speeches by General Secretary Xi Jinping. He emphasized that studying the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s important speeches should be regarded as a major political task for the present and the period ahead, further enhancing our sense of responsibility and mission, and ensuring that our thinking and actions are fully aligned with the spirit of these speeches. All levels of organizations and the broad membership should unite and lead one another in integrating the thematic education campaign on “Three Stricts and Three Earnests” and “Loyalty, Integrity, and Responsibility” into every aspect of ideological and theoretical development, organizational building, institutional improvement, style-of-work enhancement, as well as into our work of participating in state affairs and providing social services, thereby strengthening our ideals and convictions and bolstering our confidence in the path, theory, and system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We must mobilize the entire Party to take promoting the grand goals of “Healthy China” and “Beautiful China” as the central thread, serve the comprehensive deepening of reform and the promotion of scientific development, advance law-based governance, promote fairness and justice, and safeguard the wellbeing of the people. Furthermore, we should continue to emancipate our minds, pioneer and innovate, strive vigorously, fully leverage the strengths of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, actively fulfill our functions as a participating political party, and contribute our wisdom and strength to building a socialist country under the rule of law, achieving the Two Centenary Goals, and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
