At the home of villager Zhou Bulu, the fuel used in the tea-fixing stove has been switched from firewood to liquefied petroleum gas. Chen Yuhou carefully inquired about the changes after switching to LPG for tea frying, as well as the village’s overall experience with LPG use. He also worked with Zhou Bulu to calculate and compare the costs of using firewood versus LPG. Upon learning that LPG is more cost-effective than purchasing firewood, Chen Yuhou said with satisfaction: “The tea industry is a major pillar of the Jino Ethnic Township. In recent years, as the area under tea cultivation and the volume of tea processing have continued to expand, the demand for fuels such as firewood has grown steadily, placing immense pressure on forest conservation. The adoption of clean energy has significantly curbed deforestation and tree-felling, while also reducing both labor and financial costs in rural areas and mitigating the environmental pollution caused by burning firewood—truly a win-win solution.”

 

Currently, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Its more than 200 liquefied petroleum gas supply outlets are spread across 33 townships, communities, and farms throughout the prefecture, serving over 500,000 household customers and preventing the annual destruction of more than 100,000 cubic meters of timber. Since August of this year, Jinuoshan Township has designated the Yano Village group as a pilot village for promoting clean energy and has been vigorously advancing this initiative. The drum-type fixing machine powered by liquefied petroleum gas, now installed at the Piaobulu family’s tea-processing facility, has become the couple’s most reliable production assistant. During the frying process, all that is required is to pour basket after basket of tea leaves into the drum; with just a few button presses by one operator, the temperature, speed, and duration of the frying can be easily controlled. The resulting tea leaves are heated more evenly, yield more product, and require less time than those hand-fried on a traditional stove, while labor costs are also reduced. After observing the entire frying process performed by the drum-type fixing machine and holding the freshly fried tea in his hands, Chen Yuhou was deeply concerned about the quality of the tea produced by the machine. Upon learning that the aroma and taste of the machine-produced tea were indistinguishable from those of hand-fried tea and fully met the requirements of tea buyers, he expressed great satisfaction. Chen Yuhou pointed out that the promotion of clean energy requires the support of new technologies.
