On the morning of December 5, 2015, the Group organized a special lecture on “Health Preservation through the I Ching” for its employees. The lecture was delivered by Professor Yi Chuanzhuo, who seamlessly integrated modern science with ancient Eastern wisdom, guiding participants to unravel the mysteries of the I Ching through a scientific lens and to tap into the latent potential of life via meditation. In doing so, he illuminated the right path toward a healthy and fulfilling life.

What is I Ching-based health preservation?

The greatest insight in I Ching–based health preservation is to constantly strive for “harmony between heaven and humanity.” While this sounds easy, the real challenge lies in maintaining consistency and putting it into practice. To achieve such harmony, one should carefully plan one’s diet, daily routine, and work schedule, and then diligently follow through each day while regularly reviewing and reflecting on progress. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, I Ching–based health preservation can be seen as a form of chronomedicine and spatial medicine. In Confucianism, it is regarded as the foremost of all the classics; in Daoism, it stands at the pinnacle of the “Three Mysteries.” At its core, the I Ching revolves around the Five Elements, yin and yang, and the Eight Trigrams. The Five Elements—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth—are the primordial cultural foundation of China and also embody the Chinese nation’s philosophy of life and health preservation as well as its spiritual principles.

The “Essence” of the I Ching ▼

The spirit of the I Ching, if summed up in a single character, is “harmony”; if summarized in two characters, it is “yin and yang.” The path to human harmony lies in four dimensions: first, harmony with nature; second, harmony with society; third, harmony with others; and fourth, inner harmony of body and mind. When all four of these dimensions are achieved, we attain great harmony.
