Recently, Liu Tianwei, a moral role model from our province who attended the sixth National Moral Model Selection, Commendation, and Award Ceremony, returned home with honors. He is a member of the Standing Committee of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural People’s Congress and Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group. His inspiring story has touched countless hearts, setting a shining example for us in practicing the core socialist values and urging us to start with ourselves, with those around us, and with small acts, thereby spreading positive energy throughout society.

Recently, the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group convened a symposium on “Studying Role Models of Morality and Consolidating Moral Strength,” bringing together company leaders, middle-level managers, Party members, outstanding employees, and representatives of frontline staff to exchange views on learning from Comrade Liu Tianwei, a role model of morality. During the symposium, participants actively shared their thoughts and experiences, focusing on their respective work, daily life, and efforts to cultivate moral character, and discussing how to better leverage the exemplary, guiding, and mobilizing influence of moral role models. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Guihong, Deputy Director of the Group’s Office.
“Chairman Liu Tianwei’s unwavering dedication over more than two decades to donating to education, alleviating poverty, and helping others has profoundly benefited me,” said Yang Chao, a gas delivery worker at the Jinghong Branch who has been honored as an “Outstanding Employee” by the Group for five consecutive years, with deep emotion. He added that he will take the Chairman as his role model, remain grateful, work diligently, and serve customers wholeheartedly.
Wang Peirong, Manager of the Jinghong Branch of Wild Elephant Spring Drinking Water, shared his personal journey—from an ordinary sales representative to a department head—highlighting how he has embodied the spirit of role modeling and excelled in his duties. He emphasized that he has consistently benefited from the Group’s care and guidance, and that being appointed as department head is both a recognition and affirmation of his work by the Group’s leadership, which further motivates him to keep moving forward. Following the meeting, Wang pledged to convey today’s learnings and insights to every frontline employee, inspiring them to serve each customer with dedication, sincerity, and heartfelt commitment under the guiding influence of the Chairman’s exemplary moral ethos. In doing so, they will ensure that thousands upon thousands of households have access to safe, clean, and hygienic Wild Elephant Spring drinking water.
Zhang Guihong, Deputy Director of the Group Company Office, stated that role models of moral excellence serve as a banner, a calling card, a benchmark, and an engine. Such recognition is not merely a personal honor but also a collective one. At present, it is essential to integrate the study of the spirit of these role models with the study of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and with the core socialist values, thereby transforming this learning into a powerful driving force for advancing practical work. We must strive to accomplish all the production and business objectives set by the Group Company, endeavor to realize employees’ aspirations for a better life, and promote the ethos that everyone should strive to be both a practitioner of moral excellence and a participant in the building of spiritual civilization.
Zhang Yanhong, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Group Company, stated that, at present, as society is undergoing a period of reform and development, there is an even greater need for a national spirit that unites the people and for moral strength that inspires ambition and progress. It is therefore all the more important to promote the core socialist values and to foster a social atmosphere characterized by altruism, courage in the face of justice, honesty and trustworthiness, dedication and devotion to one’s work, and filial piety and love for family. The fact that the Chairman of the Group Company has been awarded this distinguished honor underscores our profound gratitude to our great Party and country and to the remarkable era in which we live; behind this recognition lies decades of steadfast, unsung dedication. In studying and practicing the exemplary spirit, we must always approach issues and carry out tasks from the standpoint of the team, convey correct values to society, publicize the good deeds of ordinary people, and promote positive energy. At the same time, we must clearly recognize our own strengths and weaknesses, continuously strive to improve through learning, and thereby better exemplify the role of model figures. All departments should intensify efforts to publicize moral role models, strengthen performance appraisal and reward mechanisms, and promote “truth, goodness, and beauty” throughout the company, thus laying a solid foundation for cultivating a healthy culture of emulation, learning from others, and striving to excel.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman Liu Tianwei, a role model of moral excellence, emphasized: “A single flower cannot herald spring; only when myriad blossoms bloom together does the garden burst into springtime. The progress of our society cannot rely solely on a handful of moral exemplars—it must depend on the collective efforts of the many, who together elevate the moral standards of the entire community. It is only by pooling the good deeds and warmth of all that our society will become more harmonious, and our world will grow warmer and more beautiful!”
This sharing session is both one of the series of lectures under the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group’s signature brand initiative, the “Employee Lecture Hall,” and a proactive exploration and concrete implementation by the Group to study and apply the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, strengthen ideological and political education for employees, and uphold and practice the core socialist values. The recognition of the Group’s Chairman as a Model of Morality serves to inspire all employees to draw wisdom and strength from China’s fine traditional culture—wisdom and strength that propel them upward and toward goodness—and to remain true to their original aspirations and keep forging ahead in their work and daily lives.
