Tianwei Charity Foundation Walks with You
Despite the depths of winter, the Hongmaoshu Village group under the Manyan Village Committee in Mengban Town, Mengla County, is brimming with warmth. On December 29, Liu Tianwei, a National Model Worker, a Model of Morality, Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, and Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation, led a delegation to Hongmaoshu Village to carry out a donation-and-scholarship program.
According to available information, Hongmaoshu Village Group is under the jurisdiction of Manyan Village Committee in Mengban Town, Mengla County. It is 17 kilometers from the village committee and 8 kilometers from the town, and is a Yao ethnic minority village. The village group’s economic conditions are relatively underdeveloped; currently, there are 34 registered impoverished households comprising 115 individuals, which are being assisted by the Office of the Standing Committee of the Prefecture People’s Congress.
Poverty alleviation begins with empowering people through knowledge, and empowering people through education. To help the Hongmaoshu Village Group achieve development and shake off poverty and become prosperous, Chairman Liu Tianwei has demonstrated heartfelt compassion and a commitment to helping those in need by signing a three-year scholarship donation agreement with the group. A total of RMB 90,000 in scholarships has been donated to support impoverished students in the village who are currently enrolled in compulsory education for nine years or higher, enabling them to complete their studies smoothly, encouraging them to study diligently, and motivating them to strive for excellence.

In his address, Chairman Liu Tianwei stated that this initiative to provide poverty alleviation and charitable donations is a concrete manifestation of supporting local education and reflects his deep commitment to giving back to society. Through the Tianwei Charity Foundation’s assistance to 34 underprivileged students in the Hongmaoshu Village group, the hope is that these students will always remember the care and support they have received from all sectors of society, face and overcome their challenges with resilience, strive for self-improvement, continue to study diligently, and, upon completing their education, contribute more to the economic development of their hometown.

While the Group has achieved rapid growth, it has never forgotten to give back to society, having donated funds and materials totaling over RMB 10 million across such areas as education, healthcare, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, emergency relief, and cultural and sports initiatives. In July 2016, Mr. Liu Tianwei and Ms. Zhang Yanhong, the Chairman and his wife of the Group, voluntarily contributed RMB 2 million to establish the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation—the first non-public fundraising charitable organization in Xishuangbanna Prefecture. They hope that the establishment of the foundation will enable them to assist more vulnerable groups in need and make due contributions to targeted poverty alleviation and the comprehensive building of a moderately prosperous society.
