On December 19, the first “Enterprise-Community Co-built Model Cultural Stage for Civilized Villages,” jointly established by the Publicity Department of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural Party Committee, the Prefectural Civilization Office, and the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation, was officially completed in the Manzhuangjian Villagers’ Group of Menglong Town, Jinghong City. Li Jinxiu, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural Party Committee and Director of the Prefectural Civilization Office, and Leaders and guests, including Liu Tianwei, a National Model Worker, a Model of Morality, Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, and Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation, joined all the villagers of Manzhuangjian Village in witnessing this historic moment: the completion inspection and unveiling ceremony of the Cultural Grand Stage.
At the ceremony, Yan Lay Yao, the Party Secretary of the Manzhuangjian Villagers’ Group, said with deep emotion: “We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Civilization Office of Xishuangbanna Prefecture and the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation for helping us build this magnificent cultural stage. Its completion has enabled all the villagers of Manzhuangjian to finally put an end to the past when inclement weather—especially rain—prevented us from holding any community events, providing us with a far superior venue for such activities. Moving forward, we will make full and effective use of this cultural stage, fully leveraging its role as a model and catalyst to inspire and drive further cultural enrichment in our village.”
In this regard, Chairman Liu Tianwei stated that, inspired by the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and under the guidance of the Prefecture Civilization Office, our Tianwei Charity Foundation is doing its modest part to give back to society—this is both an obligation and a responsibility. We will join forces with more caring individuals and organizations to make new contributions to the thriving development of cultural undertakings among ethnic minority groups in border areas and to the unity and stability of these communities.
Chairman Liu Tianwei Delivers a Speech
According to reports, the first “Xishuangbanna Prefecture Enterprise Consortium–Built Model Cultural Stage for Civilized Villages” has been established in Manzhuangjian Villagers’ Group, Mannankan Village Committee, Menglong Town, Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Prefecture. This village is composed entirely of the Dai ethnic minority, with 134 households and a total population of 634 residents. In January of this year, it was jointly awarded the title of “Model Civilized Village” by the CPC Xishuangbanna Prefectural Committee and the Xishuangbanna Prefectural People’s Government. The village is currently actively working toward designation as a “Civilized Village” at the Yunnan provincial level and as a “Beautiful Countryside” at the national level. The village’s original stage was built in 2013 and covers an area of 149.6 square meters. However, since the audience seating beneath the stage is open-air, it is heavily affected by weather conditions, which has limited the stage’s overall effectiveness. In October 2017, under the initiative of the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Civilization Office, Liu Tianwei and Zhang Yanhong—national model workers, moral role models, outstanding private entrepreneurs of Yunnan Province, members of the Standing Committee of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural People’s Congress, chairpersons of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group and the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation—donated RMB 120,000 without charge to construct a roof over the audience seating. Construction commenced on October 28, 2017, and was completed on November 20. The main structure is a steel frame covered with color-coated steel roofing, with a total area of 565.6 square meters. In recognition of the efforts made by Liu Tianwei and Zhang Yanhong in supporting cultural development in Manzhuangjian Villagers’ Group, the group has decided to name the stage the “Xishuangbanna Prefecture Enterprise Consortium–Built Model Cultural Stage for Civilized Villages.”
During the ceremony, villagers from Manzhuangjian performed a variety of vibrant cultural programs to jointly celebrate the successful completion of the grand stage and the unveiling ceremony.
