On March 30, Chen Yuhou, Secretary of the Prefecture Party Committee, conducted an unannounced visit and field inspection at the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group. He emphasized that promoting clean energy should be regarded as a key lever for building beautiful countryside, guiding people of all ethnic groups to strengthen their awareness of ecological conservation and consciously adopt production and lifestyle practices that conserve energy and resources while protecting the ecological environment.

During the field investigation, Chen Yuhou noted that Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group has been introducing and promoting the use of domestic liquefied petroleum gas for 20 years, which has effectively helped protect over 33,000 mu of forest resources. He stated that promoting clean energy in Xishuangbanna is conducive to transforming the traditional lifestyles of all ethnic groups, safeguarding the ecological environment, and serving as a crucial entry point and key lever for building beautiful countryside. Party committees and governments at all levels must carefully study and formulate concrete measures to vigorously promote the use of high-quality, clean, safe, and reliable energy sources as well as energy-saving and environmentally friendly equipment and technologies; they should also carry out extensive publicity and guidance to enhance the public’s awareness of ecological conservation, foster a sense of responsibility for health and the environment, and encourage the adoption of production and lifestyle practices that conserve energy and resources while protecting the ecological environment. Furthermore, enterprises should be encouraged and supported to broaden their horizons and expand their markets: while continuing to promote the use of clean energy in urban areas, they should also focus on the vast markets in towns, farms, and villages, vigorously advance the promotion of clean energy, and steadily increase the coverage of clean energy use. In addition, based on the actual production and daily life conditions of all ethnic groups, efforts should be made to organize the research, development, and promotion of new energy-efficient and environmentally friendly stoves, with the aim of fundamentally transforming the traditional fuel structure used in production and daily life, minimizing deforestation, effectively protecting the ecological environment, and laying a solid foundation for building a beautiful Xishuangbanna.

During his field visit to the Yexiangquan drinking-water production base, Chen Yuhou carefully listened to a briefing on the company’s operations and emphasized that high-quality water resources are a distinctive ecological asset of Xishuangbanna, and providing the public with safe, high-quality drinking water is a vital component of building Xishuangbanna’s reputation as an ecologically sound and livable region. He urged drinking-water producers to steadfastly regard the provision of safe, high-quality drinking water to all residents of the prefecture as their core mission, strengthen the protection and management of water-source areas, establish comprehensive hygiene-management systems and testing regimes for drinking water, rigorously control water quality, and ensure that every resident of the prefecture has access to safe, high-quality, and trustworthy water. He also encouraged the company to intensify its research efforts, strive to develop premium drinking water specifically suited for use in biological products such as Pu’er tea, and, in light of market demand and public feedback, appropriately expand and upgrade its product portfolio, continuously enhance and scale up its brand, and endeavor to become a leading enterprise and set a benchmark.

Chen Yuhou also carefully listened to the views and suggestions of enterprises on carrying out the educational practice campaign, thoroughly inquired about the expectations and demands of management personnel and employees, and patiently addressed each of their questions one by one. He stated that he would earnestly lead all Party members and cadres across the prefecture in translating the requirements of serving the people with pragmatism and integrity into concrete actions, advancing the educational practice campaign with high quality, effectively transforming work styles, and striving to deliver tangible benefits and good deeds for enterprises and their employees. He further expressed the hope that Liu Tianwei, a member of the Prefectural Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Company, would, while accelerating the development of the enterprise, fully leverage his role in coordinating relationships, pooling resources, offering policy advice, and serving the overall situation, thereby actively contributing ideas and efforts to the economic and social development of the entire prefecture.
