Clean Energy Provides Safeguards for New Rural Development
A healthy ecosystem and contiguous forests represent Dapugang Township’s most valuable resource and greatest advantage. With the ongoing economic and social development, rural demand for firewood as a fuel source has been steadily increasing, placing considerable pressure on forest conservation efforts. To strike a balance between scientific development and ecological protection, the New Rural Construction Task Force of Dapugang Township has taken proactive measures, mobilizing community resources to actively participate in the construction of a new socialist countryside, promoting the widespread adoption of clean energy in villages and households, and thereby ensuring that Dapugang Township continues to enjoy its lush green mountains and clear waters.

Since November of this year, the New Rural Construction Task Force of Dadugang Township, in collaboration with Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd., has conducted extensive surveys throughout the township. Preliminary plans have been made to launch a pilot project in the Liusanba Villagers’ Group of the Dahuantian Village Committee, focusing on upgrading tea-processing equipment to use liquefied petroleum gas for the kill-green process. At the same time, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group has enthusiastically responded to the call for poverty alleviation, actively fulfilling its social responsibilities by designating the Kunhan Dazhai, Nanmuhe, and Liusanba villagers’ groups as paired assistance targets. While implementing the pilot program to replace firewood with liquefied petroleum gas, the company has also donated clean-energy household cooking stoves to local residents and provided preferential pricing for gas purchases, thereby fully leveraging the role of a leading enterprise in driving local economic and social development. By the end of December 2015, the Dadugang Township New Rural Team and Xishuangbanna Petrochemical had completed the pilot upgrade of kill-green equipment at three primary tea-processing facilities in the Liusanba villagers’ group, as well as the installation and commissioning of clean-energy cooking stoves in 35 households.

By actively promoting the use of liquefied petroleum gas as a clean energy source, not only have rural living and sanitation conditions improved, but also the unsustainable, low-quality consumption of forest resources has been effectively reduced. This enables impoverished households in mountainous areas to benefit from clean energy services, thereby accelerating their progress toward poverty alleviation, wealth creation, and a moderately prosperous life.
