On the afternoon of March 6, the Jinghong City Poverty Alleviation Work Conference was held, at which new tasks for 2018 were outlined and awards were presented to outstanding collectives, individuals, and households that had successfully shaken off poverty in 2017. Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group was honored with the title of “Advanced Supporting Enterprise” for 2017 by Jinghong City.
Liu Tianwei, a National Model Worker, a Model of Morality, an Outstanding Private Entrepreneur of Yunnan Province, a member of the Standing Committee of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural People’s Congress, and Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, accepted the award on behalf of the group (far right in the photo).
“Targeted poverty alleviation is a vital livelihood project that benefits countless impoverished people, and the implementation of eco-friendly poverty reduction measures is of great significance to this effort.” As a designated enterprise tasked with assisting and supporting poverty-stricken areas in the battle against poverty, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group has consistently prioritized the issue of helping impoverished villagers escape poverty. In active response to the government’s call, the Group has organized and implemented the “Natural Gas to Cities, Liquefied Petroleum Gas to Villages” project, which has now benefited one city and two counties across the prefecture, spanning 32 townships and towns, 2,213 natural villages, 125,900 farming households, 1,250 tea enterprises, primary processing facilities, and cooperatives, as well as more than 19,900 tea-farming households. The successful implementation of this project has led to the protection of vast tracts of tropical rainforest, helped numerous impoverished families emerge from hardship, transformed the appearance of many villages, and enabled several formerly impoverished villages to achieve poverty alleviation and prosperity. When it comes to the importance of eco-friendly poverty reduction, Liu Tianwei, a National Model Worker, a Moral Model, and Chairman of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, holds a clear and unwavering understanding.
Since the launch of the battle against poverty, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group has responded enthusiastically and actively participated in the government’s poverty-alleviation efforts through a variety of initiatives, including “focusing on ecological civilization to support eco-friendly poverty reduction; donating to education to help impoverished students realize their dreams; concentrating on industry-based poverty alleviation to promote employment-driven poverty reduction; and dedicating itself to public-service-oriented poverty reduction in pursuit of moderate prosperity for all.”
As a designated assistance enterprise, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group has enthusiastically joined the nationwide effort to alleviate poverty, fulfilling its duties conscientiously and making selfless contributions, thereby demonstrating the corporate social responsibility and sense of honor that it should embody.
