The “May Fourth Youth Day” traces its origins to China’s anti-imperialist May Fourth Movement of 1919, a patriotic movement that was thoroughly committed to opposing both imperialism and feudalism. In 1939, the Northwest Youth Salvation Federation of the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region designated May 4 as China’s Youth Day. In December 1949, the Administrative Council of the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China officially proclaimed May 4 as China’s Youth Day.

On the afternoon of May 4, the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Committee of the Communist Youth League convened a conference at the Southern Power Grid Jindu Training Center to commemorate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League and the 99th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. During the conference, awards were presented to outstanding Communist Youth League officials and members of Xishuangbanna Prefecture for 2017, as well as to model May Fourth Red Flag League Committees and May Fourth Red Flag League (General) Branches, outstanding young volunteers, and exemplary volunteer service teams.

The Communist Youth League Branch of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. was awarded the title of “Prefecture-Level May 4th Red Flag League Branch” for 2017.

Xishuangbanna Yu Han, an employee of the Petrochemical Group’s Customer Service Center, was awarded the title of “Outstanding Young Volunteer” for 2017.

Since its establishment, the Communist Youth League branch of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. has consistently integrated the branch’s own development with serving society, uniting and leading all young League members to carry forward the spirit of “unity, vitality, innovation, and progress,” and actively dedicating themselves to their work while putting their heart and soul into it. Serving Society , fully leveraging the vanguard and exemplary role of young Communist Youth League members. Since its establishment, the branch has successively been awarded such honorary titles as “Advanced League Branch” at the prefectural level and “Outstanding Youth Volunteer Collective.”
