To mark the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up policy and the 114th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, on the evening of September 1, the Party branch, trade union, and Communist Youth League of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group jointly organized a film screening of “Out of the Mountains” for its employees.
Through its portrayal of two pivotal periods in Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s life—the time he served as Secretary of the Ruijin County Party Committee in 1931 and his return to public life in 1973—the film artistically conveys his unwavering commitment to the Party’s principle of seeking truth from facts, his emphasis on conducting thorough investigations and studies among the masses, his profound concern for the country and the people, his courageous sense of responsibility, as well as his indomitable revolutionary spirit and personal charisma in upholding truth. It authentically reveals Deng Xiaoping’s ideological character and broad-mindedness as a great proletarian revolutionary.
In the film, we see that in 1931 Deng Xiaoping was entrusted with a critical mission: he was appointed Secretary of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC. With fearless courage, he acted decisively, defying the grave risks of being removed from office or even executed, to halt the campaign of “purging counter-revolutionaries.” At the same time, he rehabilitated and exonerated all Soviet cadres who had been wrongfully persecuted during the purge, thereby winning the heartfelt support and admiration of the vast majority of Ruijin’s cadres. Concurrently, he made the bold decision to develop border trade, which not only reversed the severe shortage of supplies in the Huichang area but also helped resolve some of the Red Army’s logistical challenges. During his on-the-ground inspections in rural areas, he skillfully addressed the various problems that arose in land distribution, successfully completing the two tasks assigned by the higher-level Party organization and the Headquarters of the First Front Army: allocating land to peasants and collecting public grain. After his return to power in 1973, Deng Xiaoping devoted himself wholeheartedly to statecraft, enduring tremendous hardships and making extraordinary efforts to put China’s development back on track. His tireless dedication earned him the sincere support and affection of all Party members and cadres as well as the Chinese people at large, earning him the title of “the chief architect of reform and opening-up.”
By watching this film, participants gained a more authentic understanding of history and reflected on the reform process, thereby fully appreciating the profound significance of the ideological line of “seeking truth from facts.” All attendees expressed their commitment to learning from the revolutionary leaders, staying true to their original aspirations, bearing in mind their mission, and dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to all aspects of the company’s development, striving to realize their personal value in their respective ordinary roles.
