Practical, effective and practical

On May 31, 2019, on the eve of the annual International Children’s Day, Mr. Liu Tianwei, a National Model Worker, a National Moral Model, a member of the Standing Committee of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural People’s Congress, and Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, together with Ms. Zhang Meilan, Director of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural Caring-for-Younger-Generations Committee, visited Tianwei Primary School in Menghai County to celebrate International Children’s Day with the teachers and students.

Chairman Liu Tianwei and the guests jointly watched the carefully prepared cultural performances by the students.

Subsequently, Chairman Liu Tianwei extended festive greetings and best wishes to all faculty and students across the school, and expressed his earnest hopes for the students, encouraging them to study joyfully and thrive. Chairman Liu Tianwei stated: When the youth are strong, the nation is strong. We hope that all students will strive to become ambitious, aspiring, and responsible young people who are committed to studying for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and who will contribute their wisdom and talents to the great cause of building China into a strong country and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. He also urged the students to cultivate a grateful heart—grateful for their parents’ nurturing, grateful for their teachers’ guidance and moral cultivation, and grateful for the care and concern extended by the Party, the government, and all sectors of society.

According to reports, as early as 2002, Liu Tianwei and Zhang Yanhong, the chairman and his wife of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, donated RMB 500,000 to the financially strapped Menghai County Education Bureau and established the “Tianwei Hope Primary School” under the Manwei Village Committee in Menghai Town, Menghai County. As the school has expanded—currently comprising seven grades, 14 classes, more than 630 students, and over 30 faculty and staff—and as its teaching environment has improved, Liu Tianwei and Zhang Yanhong have made annual charitable donations to the school, with total contributions now exceeding RMB 2.5 million.

In recognition of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group’s care, support, and contributions to the school’s development, and with the aim of better nurturing students’ growth and success while jointly exploring new concepts and models for school–enterprise collaboration in education in the new era, Tianwei Primary School has appointed Liu Nan, General Manager of Menghai Ruigong Laobanzhang Company under Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, as Assistant Principal and part-time English extracurricular tutor, and has presented him with an official appointment letter.
