Mr. Liu Tianwei, of the Hani ethnic group, was born in 1963 and holds a bachelor’s degree. He is a native of Mojiang Hani Autonomous County in Yunnan Province and is not a member of the Communist Party of China. He served as a member of the Ninth Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, as well as a member and standing committee member of the Ninth and Tenth Prefectural Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and as Vice President of the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Federation of Industry and Commerce (General Chamber of Commerce). He currently serves as Chairman of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd.

Mr. Liu Tianwei is a farmer-entrepreneur who has grown up alongside China’s reform and opening-up. In 1993, he founded the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group. Over the more than two decades since its inception, his keen insight into the market economy and his relentless drive for progress have enabled the group to evolve into a modern, multi-channel, diversified enterprise.

As an entrepreneur with a strong sense of social responsibility, Mr. Liu Tianwei has devoted considerable energy and resources to philanthropy, education, science, culture, health, disaster relief, and environmental protection. On his personal initiative, he has funded the construction of such projects as the “Menghai Tianwei Primary School,” the “Mengla Tianwei Bridge of Compassion,” and the “Mojiang Tongguan Tianwei Stepped Classroom Building.” Over the years, the company he founded has donated nearly RMB 21 million in cash and in-kind contributions to various sectors of society, and remains committed to public welfare and charitable causes, vowing to see the “Guangcai” philanthropic mission through to the end.

Mr. Liu Tianwei is a legendary Chinese private entrepreneur who has built renowned brands and contributed to the nation’s prosperity. He has been warmly received on numerous occasions by leaders of the Party and the state. His outstanding contributions to society and the business community have earned him remarkable achievements, and he has been honored with such titles as “National Model Worker,” “19th Yunnan Provincial Model Worker,” “3rd Yunnan Provincial Outstanding Factory Director (Manager) of Non-Public Enterprises,” “3rd Xishuangbanna Prefecture Model Worker,” “Xishuangbanna Prefecture Moral Model,” and “Xishuangbanna Prefecture Advanced Individual in Ethnic Unity.”
