Today, the topic of dreams has once again come to the fore and become a very real and pressing issue—thanks to General Secretary Xi’s call, which has brought this long-discussed subject squarely into the realm of reality and inspired us to move forward. Moreover, watching “A Century of Waves: The Chinese Dream” has deepened our understanding of what the “Chinese Dream” truly means.

 

　　 The Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core upholds and develops socialism with Chinese characteristics and clearly articulates the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. This vision reflects the cherished aspirations of generation after generation of Chinese people since modern times, further illuminates the historical destiny of the Chinese nation and the development path of contemporary China, sets the common goal for the entire Party and all ethnic groups across the country, strengthens the governing philosophy of the Communist Party of China, imbues the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics with new connotations, and holds profound significance for uniting all ethnic groups throughout the country.

 

　　 The great Chinese civilization has thrived uninterrupted for more than five millennia. From Fuxi’s elucidation of the Way to Jingwei’s futile attempt to fill the sea, from Nüwa’s repair of the sky to Yu the Great’s control of the floods; from the unification under the First Emperor to the golden ages of the Han and Tang dynasties, from the prosperous Song to the vibrant Ming—throughout history, the industrious descendants of Huaxia have showcased Chinese wisdom and the Chinese spirit to the world. We once possessed a “Celestial Empire” endowed with abundant natural resources and cultural treasures, inspiring admiration and reverence from all nations. Yet if we become complacent in the present, cease to strive and endeavor, and succumb to arrogance and self-importance, we will inevitably lose everything we have. History has delivered this stark lesson: we can no longer drift through life in a daze. Only by relying on our own efforts and persevering through hardship can we achieve development and progress. It was precisely at such a critical juncture that the Communist Party of China identified the problems confronting the nation, led the people in recognizing these challenges, and, by applying the correct guiding principles in light of China’s actual conditions, effectively addressed the pressing hardships of the time. In doing so, it liberated New China, rescued the Chinese people from dire straits, and set the stage for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

 

　　 Over the long course of time, we have grown from a nascent rise to our present strength; accordingly, the challenges we face have evolved from simple ones at the outset to increasingly complex ones today. It is precisely for this reason that the proposal of the Chinese Dream aligns perfectly with the demands of the present era.

 

　　 The Chinese Dream is to make our country prosperous and strong, our nation revitalized, and our people happy. Over the past century, we have traversed a bumpy road to rejuvenation; through the vicissitudes of the ages, we have pursued the dream of building a powerful nation. A nation without dreams is a pitiable one, and a nation that lacks the unwavering, steadfast spirit to pursue its noble aspirations has no future either. Only by striving unremittingly and holding fast to our dreams can we build the mighty China of today. As the General Secretary has said, “The dream of enabling every individual to shine in life is a dream that grows together with our motherland.” The future of our youth will determine the future of our country; the “Chinese Dreams” of young people, when pooled together, will form the “Chinese Dream” of the entire nation. Therefore, we must be even more resolute in pursuing our dreams, strive tirelessly, and work hard to realize our own “Chinese Dream.”
