This is a typical day for our gas delivery personnel at Xishuangbanna Petrochemical.

 

 

This morning, as soon as I arrived at the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply station and met Master Yang Chao, he was just about to head out to deliver gas after receiving a call. Determined not to keep customers waiting, Master Yang wasted no time—every minute counted.

 

 

The delivery was made to the customer’s designated location. However, due to a rough stretch of road that motorcycles couldn’t navigate, Master Yang prepared to carry the liquefied gas cylinder directly into the customer’s home—a common practice during gas deliveries.

 

 

While assisting customers with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) installation, Master Yang meticulously inspects the work to ensure it meets safety standards, conducts leak tests to identify any potential leaks, and then patiently instructs customers on how to use LPG safely.

 

 

Master Yang had just returned to the liquefied petroleum gas supply station when he hurriedly set down the empty cylinders, loaded the new ones onto the truck, and didn’t even take a sip of water before heading off to deliver to another customer.

Despite the sweltering heat, Master Yang steadfastly adheres to traffic regulations by wearing a safety helmet and practices safe, courteous driving—qualities that have always defined his professional conduct.

 

 

As noon approached 2 p.m., Master Yang finally had a break. It was only then that he realized he hadn’t eaten yet, so he hurried to a fast-food restaurant and quickly wolfed down his meal in no time.

 

 

Master Yang carries 40- to 50-pound liquefied petroleum gas cylinders up the stairs, sometimes in older buildings that don’t have elevators.

For gas delivery personnel, ensuring both timeliness and safety is paramount. Before dispatching liquefied petroleum gas cylinders from the station, a leak test must be conducted to verify their integrity; only after confirming safety may the cylinders be released. Upon delivery to the customer’s home and replacement with a new cylinder, a second leak test must be performed to ensure safe use by the customer.

 

 

It was almost 6:30 p.m., and Master Yang kept receiving call after call from customers placing gas orders. He told me that the peak time for gas orders is from the afternoon until 9 p.m.

Master Yang is always the first to arrive at the liquefied petroleum gas supply station each day—and also the last to leave.

 

Master Yang told us that nowadays, as soon as he sees a customer’s name, he can usually pinpoint their exact address and deliver the gas cylinder to their doorstep quickly. Even during holidays, when everyone is joyfully celebrating the New Year or other festive occasions, they continue to deliver gas as usual.
