Donate to support education and help underprivileged students realize their dreams. Liu Tianwei was born in a poor village in Mojiang County. His father died young due to illness, and the family’s poverty forced him to drop out of school at an early age. By the time he was barely 16, he had already left his hometown to seek his fortune elsewhere. He deeply understood that children from impoverished families have the least access to educational opportunities. In 2002, Liu donated 500,000 yuan to build the “Tianwei Hope Primary School” and has since set aside 100,000 yuan each year to establish scholarships for outstanding but financially disadvantaged students at the school. Beginning in 2010, he has annually contributed another 100,000 yuan in charitable funds to support and assist impoverished college students, helping more than 100 such students complete their studies. Over the past decade and more, Liu’s voluntary efforts to support education and teaching have totaled over 8 million yuan.

Providing timely help to terminally ill patients. In 2010, Liu Tianwei donated 500,000 yuan to help Jing Meiling, a poor villager with no blood relation to him, undergo heart surgery. In 2016, Liu Tianwei donated to Liao Shouhong, who was suffering from cancer. A medical allowance of RMB 50,000 was granted, and employees were encouraged to contribute an additional RMB 38,000 in charitable donations. Over the years, Liu Tianwei has donated nearly RMB 1 million in charitable funds, helping more than 20 impoverished families with sick members overcome their hardships.

Respect and care for the elderly; enthusiastically engage in public welfare activities. Since 2002, Liu Tianwei has donated RMB 100,000 each year to visit and provide assistance to impoverished veteran Party members, centenarians, elderly individuals with disabilities or who are孤残, families of martyrs and military personnel, veterans of the War of Resistance, and retired senior experts. Liu Tianwei has donated more than RMB 1 million in successive contributions to build a village cultural activity center, construct an “affectionate road,” establish an “affectionate water cellar” at the elderly care home, assist impoverished villagers in developing animal husbandry and ecological agriculture, and offer condolences to the families of drug enforcement officers who heroically sacrificed their lives.

On July 7, 2016, Liu Tianwei and his wife, Zhang Yanhong, donated RMB 2 million to establish Xishuangbanna Prefecture’s first non-public fundraising charitable organization—the Xishuangbanna Tianwei Charity Foundation—providing financial support for acts of kindness and good deeds.
