On January 18, 2019, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group held a grand conference at the Wanda Crowne Plaza Resort to commemorate the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up and to review the year 2018. The meeting provided a comprehensive review and summary of the remarkable achievements and valuable lessons learned over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up and during the 25 years since the establishment of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, further reinforcing the group’s confidence and resolve to deepen reform and opening-up and to strengthen and expand the enterprise.
Liu Tianwei, a National Model Worker and Moral Role Model, a member of the Standing Committee of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural People’s Congress, and Chairman of the Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group, attended the conference and delivered the Group’s 2018 work report on its behalf.

In his address, Chairman Liu Tianwei stated: “Today we gather here to jointly celebrate the magnificent achievements our motherland has attained over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up. Over these four decades, China has undergone earth-shattering, transformative changes, and Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group has been both a witness to and an active participant in—and contributor to—this historic journey. Twenty-five years ago, driven by the sweeping tide of China’s reform and opening-up and against the backdrop of Xishuangbanna’s initiative to build an eco-friendly prefecture, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group was established. After 26 years of relentless effort, the Group has now grown into a modern enterprise conglomerate whose business scope spans the five elements—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Thanks to its outstanding operational performance and robust growth momentum, the company has risen to rank 28 among the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Yunnan Province. The 26-year development of Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group is, in microcosm, a reflection of China’s reform and opening-up. It is fair to say that without the leadership of the Party and the government in this process of reform and opening-up, there would be no Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group as we know it today. Therefore, Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the great Communist Party of China, to this great era, and to the cause of reform and opening-up.”
At the same time, he expressed the hope that all employees will embrace new aspirations, set fresh goals, and achieve meaningful results in the year ahead. Guided by the principle that “talent is the primary resource, innovation is the primary driving force, and development is the top priority,” we must continue to intensify our efforts in deepening institutional reform, innovating management practices, cultivating talent, and strengthening corporate culture. We need to demonstrate the unwavering confidence and determination to leave a lasting mark—“leaving footprints on every stone and leaving indelible traces on every patch of iron”—by working diligently and pragmatically, taking bold responsibility, and fully implementing all work objectives for 2019, so as to jointly realize employees’ vision of a better life. With even greater fighting spirit and a more vigorous mindset, we will break new ground and deliver outstanding performance, thereby making further achievements and contributions in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and in the pursuit of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The Xishuangbanna Petrochemical Group’s event commemorating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up and its 2018 annual meeting featured a clear theme and rich content.
